Much like most of the families of the nation, mymily family was also glued to the TV screen and watched the union budget live. From senior citizens of the family, Dada and Dadi ji to little Appu and even Puffy had different reactions to the budget.
Here is how the whole family reacted to the budget….
Daada is happy because the budget 2018 has Incentives for Senior citizens. Exemptions in income of Rs 10,000 from Banks FD and post offices. Now he is relaxed and decide not to give a damn about the future.
Daadi seems to be relieved because as per the budget senior citizens to get Rs 50,000 per annum exemption for medical insurance under Sec 80 D. So now her knee operation will be done and she will be able to walk again.
Papa is proud because his kids Adi and Anshu will study in some of the best institutes because he read in the newspaper that “Rs. 1 lakh crore allocated to revitalisation and upgradation of education sector. Promoting learning based outcomes and research”. Meanwhile, he finished 3rd cup of his morning tea.
Mummy is worried like hell and went to the ‘Padosi’ to talk about “Customs duty on groundnut oil and sunflower seed oil hiked from 12.5% to 30%; on refined edible vegetable oil from 20% to 35%”. Now she will be cursing Finance Minister throughout the year.
Travel enthusiast Sanju Uncle’s SUV will not be seen more in the garage now onwards as Excise on unbranded diesel cut by 2 rupees to 6.33 rupee/ltr. He has already started planning to visit ladakh by his SUV.
Nikita Aunty has to drop the idea of buying a wrist watch because customs duty on imitation jewellery hiked from 15% to 20%; doubled on all watches to 20%. However, Sanju Uncle (Husband of Nikita aunty) is totally in favour with this decision of Finance Minister for obvious reasons !! On the other hand Nikita Aunty will not be able to buy surprise toys for Appu anymore as “Customs duty on toys have hiked!”
Aditi doesn’t seem much cheerful on one of the policies from ‘Budget 2018’! She was planning to buy a new mobile phone but owing to the increase in Customs Duty and hence, the price she might reconsider her plan. But on the brighter side, she is supportive of the idea behind this policy as a boost to “Make in India” initiative.
A school going studious kid Anshu is happier than ever because according to finance minister “Govt to increase digital intensity in education. Technology is to be the biggest driver in improving quality of education”. Now Anshu got a chance to show off his geekiness to his fellow mates in School.
Puffy - Whoof Whoof !! Well That’s what Puffy has to say about ‘Budget 2018’!! Not sure of what it means but that’s Cute!
